Your Food Garden

Helping our neighborhood grow one garden at a time.

About

We at Your Food Garden aim to create healthy local food using community food waste to produce delicious and nutritious food to feed our neighborhoods.

The Process

We start by collecting neighborhood food waste: excess vegetable trimmings, egg shells, coffee grounds, really any non-meat products.

Once we collect buckets of food waste from our neighbors we put it through a fermentation process in order to break down the organic material and make a concentrated organic liquid fertilizer. This fertilizer can also be used to make natural fungicides and pesticides for our community.

The solids leftover from this process are composted alongside yard waste to create a rich garden compost with a diverse microbiology.

This process allows us to grow delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables out of recycled materials, cutting back on our carbon footprint used to obtain healthy food through big brand markets.

Our process promotes a healthier ecosystem in our community by reducing the amount of food and yard waste that ends up rotting in the dump.
